The Phoload website lists lots of fantastic mobile games and applications that software developers have uploaded. Users of the website can download this software to their phones for free. We aim to make it simple, easy, and fun to discover and download free software that is compatible with your phone.
Yes, all the software is free to download. We do not charge for any of the software on Phoload.
If you download software directly to your phone, your mobile service provider may charge you for the data transferred or airtime used, depending on your network tariff plan. We recommend you check with your mobile service provider which charges apply for accessing the Internet from your mobile device, before downloading directly to your phone. You can avoid any such charges by downloading the software to your PC and then transferring it to your phone (see answer B5 for more information).
There are three classifications of software listed on Phoload: 'Free full version', 'Free demo/trial version' and 'Free ad supported'. The 'Free full version' and 'Free demo/trial version' types are pretty self-explanatory. If you like a demo or trial version of the software you download, we encourage you to support the developer of the software and purchase the full version.
The software labeled 'ad-supported' will occasionally display advertisements to you as you use it, for example before playing a new game. Ad-supported software often requires that you first connect to the Internet in order to download the advertisements. So, in common with other mobile software that connects to the Internet, before you use it, you should check how much your mobile service provider charges you for accessing the Internet from your phone.

No, you can download software from both the website and mobile/WAP site without registering as a member.
If you do become a member, then Phoload can automatically remember your phone type when you return to the website, and you will be able to use the 'quick download list' to download software. Also, to be able to rate, review and discuss the software you must be a member of Phoload.
You can access Phoload and download software directly to your phone by visiting our mobile/WAP site at http://www.phoload.com/m using your phone's browser.
If we can detect your phone type, the mobile version of the Phoload site will automatically be filtered to show only the software that is compatible your phone.

There are two ways to download and install the software from Phoload onto your phone:
In order to download software directly to your phone, you must be able to access our mobile/WAP site on your phone. Try to visit http://www.phoload.com/m using your phone's browser. If you cannot get this to work, then it is possible your phone is not yet set up for browsing the Internet. In this case, you should consult your phone's manual and ask your mobile service provider to help you set this up.
Once you have access to our mobile website, you can browse our entire software catalogue on your phone. Any of the games or applications can be downloaded simply by clicking through the download links next to the item you would like to download. The software should then be automatically downloaded and installed onto your phone. Normally, this will be a two or three click process; firstly, to allow the phone to retrieve the details of the download, and secondly to allow the installation, during which you may be prompted with the requisite security warning and asked which folder you would like to install the software into.
If you are browsing the main Phoload website on your PC and find some software you would like to download directly to your phone, then the quickest way to do this is to use our 'Download by code' or 'Quick download list' features. For more information on the 'Quick download list', see answer B4.
To use the 'Download by code' feature click on 'Free Download' next the software you would like to download, make sure you have selected your phone, and a download code will be displayed. Then, visit our mobile website http://www.phoload.com/m/ on your phone, click on 'Download by code', and enter the download code in the box provided. A link to download the software will then be displayed.
As you browse the main Phoload website on your PC, you can queue up items of software to be downloaded later by adding them to your quick download list. Then, when you are ready to download the software, you can visit our mobile website on your phone and quickly and easily download the items on the list.
In order to use the quick download list, you must first be logged into your Phoload member account on the main website. To add items to your list, click on the 'Free download' next to the software you would like to add. If you have not already selected your phone, you will be prompted to do so. The link to add the software to your list will then be displayed. When you are ready to download the software from your quick download list, visit our mobile/WAP site at http://www.phoload.com/m using your phone and click on 'Quick download list'. You will then be prompted for your username and password, before download links for all of the items on your quick download list will be displayed.
Note: In order to use this install method, you must have the necessary cables and/or connectivity software required to transfer files from your computer to your phone.
First of all, locate the software you would like to download on the main website and click on 'Free download'. If you have not already selected your phone, you will be prompted to do so. The software consists of an application file (.jar) and an application descriptor (.jad). You can click on the 'Download JAR file' and 'Download JAD file' links to save these files to your PC. Sometimes a phone requires both files to install the software; sometimes only the application (.jar) is required.
You should be able transfer the downloaded files (usually via USB cable, infra-red, or Bluetooth) to your phone using the connectivity software which came with your phone. If you cannot find the install CD for this software, it is usually available for download from the phone manufacturer's website. Once you have transferred the files, the phone should install the software for you.
The process of transferring and installing files is phone specific, so please consult your phone's manual for further instructions.
We try to list all phones that are compatible with the software available for download on Phoload. In order to be included on Phoload, a phone must support the Java Micro Edition platform.
If you think that your phone should be added to the website, please let us know by emailing support@phoload.com. In the meantime, to obtain the correct software for your phone, you should select a phone similar to yours when browsing and downloading from our web and mobile sites.
When you browse the website and click on 'Free download' to download an item of software, if you have not already selected your phone, you will be prompted to choose your phone brand and model using drop-down menus.
If your phone brand or model is not listed in these menus then your phone is not recorded as compatible with that item of software in our database.
If a phone similar to yours is listed, you can select that phone and try downloading and installing the version for that phone.
Installing software onto your T-Mobile G1 from websites such as Phoload may initially fail with a message like "Install blocked. For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market". If you receive this message, you can permit software that doesn't come from the Google Market by enabling "Unknown Sources" the panel Settings > Applications > Unknown Sources.
